I hope you all enjoyed your weekends. Here's a bit of ours.
We bought Israel a new toy, I enjoy buying things for him way more than me!
I sequined vintage sweater I found at a thrift store with the tags still on.
A little update on Israel, he's starting to get some hair, yay!
Remnant of a little project and my new Lotta Jansdotter tote.

Those Swedes! How do they have so much style?
These actually make me wish for snow.

Etsy favorites

Here's a glimpse of what's on my "favorites" page on Etsy.
A great little swatch of trim along with a hot metallic pillow, I want, I want!
Some yummy cookies & angular pendant.
Vintage lights & studded ring.
Bear print made with the best shade of off-red & a new little ceramic by Ashley G.

young designer's playroom

I want to leave you this weekend with a magnificent children's playroom.
It's done so right, it almost hurts! If you check out the furniture there's a
George Nelson sofa along with a table and chairs by Alvar Aalto and Arne Jacobsen!
Lucky kids? They're also well to do because their mom is the owner of one of our
favorite brands, Kid O.
I can really appreciate how orderly everything is, wouldn't you agree?
More here.
"I'm new here"-pendant light

I apologize for not posting a new item last Friday but I'm back with a new dining room light fixture.
We really needed an inexpensive alternative to the ugly iron one we had hanging before. Thankfully, Ikea came to the rescue and we're enjoying our new Fado light so much more.
Next, this little area needs new drapes-which you can't see in the photo-new chairs and a new print for that frame, I think this one!

Marketa zip pouch

The lovely Marketa sent me this gorgeous little zip pouch, which I use as a clutch.
The metallic linen goes with everything and the quality is just as good
if not better than anything I could find in the store.
I only wish I had one in every color now!
She has a new Spring line coming out soon that I'm sure will be beautiful.
Check out her shop here!

wedges

I can't get enough of these wonderful wedged heels!
I think it has something to do with being a new mom and wanting to be current but not totally sacrifice comfort.
Which are your favorites?

book of the week, Dwell Studio Look

Israel loves images of black and white. I ordered this book for him a couple weeks from Rare Device but then saw it at Babies R Us,
I guess I could have saved some shipping costs!
He's starting to turn pages so these board books are perfect for him!
he's got skills

Sorry for the fuzzy pictures, again, but I had to try to snap a couple photos of our young man rolling off his sheepskin.
You can see in the first image that he's happily gnawing on my finger but what you can't see is that he's got both legs in the air and he's swinging them to get himself moving. That's how it all begins. Then it's face first onto the rug where he looks so tiny and helpless.
Just when I think he needs me to rescue him, he pops his little head up to take a look around at his new view of the living room. I'm impressed-I'm mom!

dining

Happy Monday everyone!
I had an exhausting weekend so I feel like today should be Saturday. Hopefully this week turns
out to be more relaxing than I think it will be. I'm ordering a few new furniture pieces as well as a high chair for Israel-it's almost time for solid foods!
I'm wishing my dining room looked as pulled together and inviting as some of these.

starting early

This is a far cry from my last post but stay with me.
My husband, Jeremiah, and I grew up in the art community-more him than me though.
We have spent most of our lives in art classes and I've taken everything from drawing & ceramics to Art History (yawn!).
We secretly, and not so secretly, hope that Israel grows up to have a passion for art and creating like his mum & dad do.
He's only 4 mos old but I bought these modeling waxes and crayon ring for him.
Of course we won't live vicariously through him but it doesn't hurt to try!

stacks and stacks
I love these stacked rings sets. What a great Valentine's Day gift they would make!

mid century house tour

How I love all these mid century chairs! Oh, and the Eames stool, Nelson pendant lamp, Bertoia chairs and that credenza!
When can I move in?
More here.
book of the week, Miffy

My husband and I have made it a point to read to Israel since he was about 5 weeks old.
Currently, our favorite read is Miffy. He gets so excited to see all of the fun adventures this cute little bunny goes on. He grabs the pages, scratches at objects and tries to turn the pages!
Every couple weeks I order him a new Miffy book and you can tell he knows it's a whole new book because he gets his arms pumping and legs kicking!

"I'm new here"

First, please excuse the awful bathroom lighting, we don't have a single window in here.
Also, just forget the ugly bathroom tile, it's there to stay for now so ignore it, that's what I do!
I really needed something simple and clean to organize my bathroom essentials so I bought this tray from CB2 and it does the job nicely, don't you think?

to bounce or to rock?

Israel is growing up so fast and needing more to entertain him.
We're wanting to buy him some sort of little bouncer or rocker and I've narrowed it down.
To bounce or to rock is the question?
All you moms out there, what's your advice?
Wednesday, January 20, 2010
yes or no?
I have never been fond of wall stickers.
It's not that I don't think they're a great temporary solution for renters' spaces or that I think the idea of them is so wrong, I've just never seen one that I would even consider having in my house.
I really don't want to walk by one of my walls and see the silhouette of a bird on a branch of a flower or a barcode. That's cool for you but I'd rather not, thank you.
This birch wall sticker, however, could change that.
For some reason it just doesn't get under my skin like all the rest.
I'm not saying I'll run out and buy it, but if I were to buy a wall sticker, I think this is the one I'd choose.
Your thoughts?
Daniel Hertzell

I could have uploaded the entire portfolio of Daniel Hertzell!
For you Ikea fans, you might recognize the top photo-not sure if it ended up in their catalog or website but it's a beauty!
I don't think I'll ever get tired of white floors and white walls. These glossy white floors have me loathing our carpeted (yes, I said carpeted) dining room! Oh, and did you see the marble back splash above? Didn't realize how much I could like the look of a marble wrapped kitchen but I do, I really do.

"I'm new here"
I ordered these dried Craspedia and they arrived yesterday!
I normally don't buy dried flowers but these look so great dried & they'll last all year round.
I'm starting a new little weekly series called "I'm new here" to introduce you to new finds & little additions to the house.
Let me know what you think!

we like stripes
Every time I shop for Israel, I end up with something striped.
It seems like the only pattern they make boys' clothes from.
I think we're going to look for solids for a while, we're all striped out!

the early bird gets the cool pillow

I've been wanting this pillow for months-I mean months!
I even asked for it for Christmas but unfortunately didn't get it.
Now it's gone & I'm sad.
Should have bought it way back when!

more Whimsy

My last post was about the beautiful sweets from Whimsy & Spice.
Now, take a little look at their home.
Perfection, both ways.
a present to myself
Next time I need a little pick-me-up, I'll head over here to pick up a sweet treat.
The tough part is just trying to choose just 1!

Happy New Year
I love this all white New Year's table, via Olivet.
It's been a great year & I look forward to 2010.
Have a blessed New Year!
3 months & full of wiggles

Our little Israel is growing so fast.
He's 3 months old now & loves to kick & punch-what a boy right?!
I tried taking a couple pictures of him this morning, he'd only smile when I wasn't holding the camera of course.
He also didn't want anything to do with holding still!

where I sit + a geometric Christmas

I haven't shared any pictures of our new house since the dining room so I thought I'd show you the view I have every morning when Israel & I watch the news.
Below are a few of the gifts I received for Christmas-wooden stacking blocks, a geometric vase & a triangle dish for the coffee table.
My husband & I are seriously thinking about painting our fireplace white...what do you think?
to make you drool

I was happy to hop on over to Emmas Designblogg & see these images.
What a way to start out my day.
More red please!

Christmas came early
My husband & I bought a set of these chairs for Christmas.
The arrived just a couple days ago.
Now we need to work on getting some desks to go with our chairs!
gray,white & a little red
Why can't I have another living room in my house?
I'd love to stick to a strict color palette such as this!

my guy

Here he is, the tiny man who is the center of my universe.
This was back around Thanksgiving, so he was 8 weeks old-he's now almost 12!
Beautifully photographed by our lovely friend, Yan Photography.
happy home
image via Ohdeedoh
We're almost ready for the big day.
I finished most of the wrapping last night, and with the exception of one gift, am done shopping.
I baked sugar cookies last night and the house has that nostalgic scent of pine.
Just 3 more days!
not this year

This year we will not be staying up late to welcome the New Year.
We will not get dressed up or attend a party.
Hopefully, all 3 of us will be sleeping peacefully.
If I were to go to said party, and if I had already lost the rest of my baby weight, I'd wear this dress with this necklace.
I guess I could still wear the necklace...

We don't have the space or floors to pull this off successfully but this bedroom has me rethinking our bed frame.

toys for Christmas

I was so looking forward to my first Christmas with Israel because it gave me a great excuse to buy some toys as gifts.
I purchased the top puzzle for him, even though it will be a while before he can play with it.
The other two are on my wishlist!

Christmas time is here

I started my Christmas decorating last week. Have yet to buy a tree though.
Usually, I clear dressers & mantles to make room for all of my Christmas stuff! I would pick different themes & cover foam trees with meringue cookies or fill clear glass bulbs with moss.
This year I left everything in its place. I actually left most of my decorations in their boxes too.
It seems that having a newborn in the house simply creates more mess & clutter so I went a little minimal with my holiday decor this year.
I added this pom pom garland to my poster, stuffed a few glittery sprigs into vases and draped this little triangular pipe-cleaner garland over the mantle.
If nothing else, it means less to clean up after Christmas!
How is your Christmas decorating different this year?

you make me laugh
Every morning I give Israel some play time with his gym.
When I laid him down he was straight under his toys-a few minutes later, I found him sideways.
:)
confetti for Christmas

Isn't it great that Urban is carrying Confetti System for Christmas?
They're more than welcome to decorate my house for the Holiday!

white makes it all right

For some reason, all I'm craving is pure white.
I think the lack of color appeals to me because it's universally clean and calm.
What I wouldn't give to pour a bucket of thick, white paint all over my house & start over again!
