Until we meet again...

I may be a little m.i.a. this week...we're having internet troubles. So if you don't hear from me much in the next week, that's why. I will be back once we get things fixed but until then I may only pop in every now & again. So here's a little eye candy to hopefully keep you happy for now. Hope to be back soon!
Would you...?

I'm not sure how I feel about this chair...would you sit in it? Would you put it in your home?
Hmm...

Birth control...

My husband & I watched our sweet niece & nephew this weekend...one who is about 5 mos, the other about 2 1/2 yrs. Wonderful as they are, the two of us are wiped and free from any longing to have kids, at the moment.
That said, I am still anxious to add to my nest & create a fun kid's room. I found these cute photos and they're only motivation to start decorating a nursery, prematurely!
Look!
I just bought this adorable mini coat rack last week {I was waiting for the picture to show up on their website} not in red, but it's is so cute! Perfect for hanging jewelry, keys or just a catch all for knick knacks! As soon as my console table is here, he'll find a home on the edge of it!

Number scarf...just cool!

I would totally wear this...I don't know where to or with what but I'd at least try!
Summer Thornton...

I found Summer by way of Desire to Inspire and simply really enjoy her mix of high-low, dark-light and her brave blend of patterns!
Not to mention that the bottom picture only fuels my obsession with yellow & gray as a color palette and do I spy a John Reeves table? Either it is or it's very similar...she's killing me!

How wonderful is Joanne Reyes? Pretty great f you ask me...designer & founder of Vicente Villarin. I love her sophisticated yet edgy & modern styles! Her color palette is great as well with muted metallics, shades of ivory & taupes as well as hints of yellow and rich lavenders. I also love the layers & textures she's created! Another busy day...
I've got so much to do today, which isn't a bad thing entirely but sometimes I wish instead, I could just stand on the beach somewhere looking effortlessly chic, wearing this lovely dress (and necklace for that matter) with not a care in the world! Oh well...

Mina Perhonen...

I actually found Mina's site a few weeks ago & forgot about it! How could I when she has these very fabulous chairs? She has also designed some wonderful textiles as well as clothes {which a may blog about later in the week...?}, truly talented with an eye for shape & color, I'm loving these!!
Manon Gignoux...

I'm loving these photos by Manon Gignoux, an amazing sculptor, stylist & photographer! Manon attended France's Duperre School of Applied Arts where she studied the clothes of workers in the early 20th century. In her own words her creations , "illustrate the meeting of clothes, body & decor."
I say, "beauty!"
Etsy Monday...Hollabee Design

I love this fun, fresh fabric from Hollabee, who creates great fabrics, housewares, stationary & other crafty things. My favorite is her "bricks" prints, but they're all wonderful!
Bianca, who is originally from the Netherlands, lives in Melbourne, Australia & is a self taught designer! Her fabrics are naturally colored as well as hand printed & uses eco-friendly blends of hemp & organic cottons.
Currently, she is taking an intensive textile design course where she created the "bottles" print & is also working on a {secret} project with another textile designer, so keep an eye out!!
Please check out Hollabee's design blog, her crafty blog, Etsy shoppe, & her Big Cartel shop...
Thanks Bianca!

Habitat shoes...
I know, I know...I just did a post on fashion picks yesterday but I couldn't resist. I heart these heels from Habitat! I like that the heel is low enough to be comfy yet the style is still so chic & modern. Don't you love that little gold strap in the front?
Phew! No more baking for me!

Yesterday I my younger sister & some of her friends came over to hang out & eat some desserts. I wanted to create an outdoor living room so I decorated the patio with these plastic frames {which were from Target's Mother's Day media} & made these little black flowers {thanks to Wendy for posting that flower tutorial I had been asking about!}.
I also hung some little white flowers above the table & covered the inside of a larger frame with B&W polka-dotted wrapping paper {I couldn't stand the sight of our ugly shed}.
For dessert...I made some no-bake cookies {a favorite of mine}, russian tea cakes, chocolate filled croissants, scones with homemade raspberry jam & cream and served fresh giant strawberries.
Oh, and to continue the B&W theme, I made stands from black glass plate set atop milk glass vases...they were a perfect fit!

Guest Blogger...Dozi!
I want to welcome Wendy from Dozi Design as my guest blogger today!
Enjoy...
Inspiration around the house
I want to first thank Jennifer for having me here on A Merry Mishap! She has such an eye for fun yet simple and refreshing things - definitely what I look for in blogs I frequent for inspiration. Having a nerdy day job filled with numbers and tech-talk, I depend heavily on great blogs like Jennifer's to color up my day. I also found it completely necessary to have things around the house to stimulate that other side of my brain. So today I thought I'd share some of the patterns and color combinations around my house that inspire me.
This tray and cutting board is something that my husband and I bought in Stockholm during our honeymoon late last year. I absolutely love how the Swedish find ways to incorporate pattern into ordinary household items. It's the perfect size for serving cut fruit or cheese to guests. And when not in use, it can be hung up (there's a little hole on one end) on the kitchen wall as decor.

I also have a huge obsession with paper and notebooks, so when I walked into Bookbinder's Design in Stockholm, I gasped, and eventually walked out with one of their classic bound journals. That was about the time I started loving gray, and the book cloth they used has such a rich texture. I also couldn't resist the pale green silhouette of trees on the inside cover. Oh and I also got one of their cute little bookmarks with fabulous illustrations. I haven't used any of these purchases because it's just too beautiful.
There are some pieces of clothing that I just can't seem to get tired of. I just love the way these pieces look together with the colors and patterns: a delicate red-orange motif against tiny black and white stripes, next to a bit of gray and white as well as a subtle grid of light orange lines. These pieces will definitely remain my favorites for awhile.
Of course, my stash of fabrics which I display on a bookshelf continually bring me inspiration. Here is one piece from Stockholm that I adore. I love it so much that I cannot seem to settle on a project to use it in. A summer tote comes to mind, but even then the options for shapes and sizes are endless!
Many of these colors and patterns have served as subtle influences when I was designing the items for my Etsy shop opening. I think bringing beautiful designs into my home and studying them over time will continue to stretch and grow me as a designer.
Make sure to check out Wendy's lovely blog, her flickr & Etsy shoppe...wonderful job, thank you so much Wendy!
Mr Impossible chair...

I just adore this egg-shaped white & clear chair from Kartell...need I say more?!?
Robot mugs...
I thought these were cute, and if I had kids they'd be irresistible! How cute are those matching egg cups...I may start collecting!

I need this...!
Saw this a while back but it's been haunting me...you know how sometimes you think of an item long after you've looked at it, or how you imagine yourself being just oh-so-chic in it? This does that for me...check it out!
Flickr find...Door Sixteen!

I found this wonderful home via flickr from Door Sixteen's photostream & love it! (and I'm not the only one who loves it since it was also featured on AT!) It's such an inspiration...I love the mix of vintage pieces with modern shapes, the entire place is interesting, nothing looks over worked and the result seems effortless.
There's even more fun pics of her house you can check out here, as well as a delightful blog!

Isabella Court...
I love the home of Isabella Court! It's not the kind of space I'd create for myself but I can totally appreciate this! Every item, shape & pattern seems so thoughtfully placed! You can check out more of her home here...
Etsy Monday...Anna Cote

Anna is a wonderful Etsy artist who's shoppe is filled with irrestible things! From printed coasters to personalized notes & cards to notebooks & Gocco prints all of Anna's lovely designs are so wonderful! Also, her new items are being printed by hand on 100% recycled paper & envelopes!

Deborah Bowness wallpaper...

I'm loving these hand-printed wallpapers from Deborah Bowness! Truly lovely & unique the wallpaper looks like enlarged vintage photos. How much better are these than frames?! I especially like her "Frocks" collection with softly hanging dresses that seem so peaceful they're reminiscent of lazy Sunday afternoons!
Check out her other completely lovely collections...
My progressive garden...
This is our {my husband & I's} first full summer as married folk, so this is my first summer to work on my garden. Last year I was so busy with our wedding, honeymoon & moving into our first place that all I managed to do was plant a row of lavender.
This summer I'm so pleased see my Hydrangeas blooming as well as my climbing roses & irises. It's definitely going to take a few years to have what I want, but for now it's just exciting to see what I do have!
